Dr. D M Vasudevan, MD, FRCPath, Director-Research of Jubilee Centre for Medical Research, JMMC &RI Thrissur, is an esteemed academician, author, and researcher. He has received numerous awards including the Dr. B C Roy Award from the Medical Council of India, the Best Doctor award in Medical Education from the Government of Kerala, and the M M Ghani Award for the Best Teacher at Calicut University. An Endowment Oration instituted in connection with his 50 years of academic excellence is an annual event attended by clinicians and researchers nationally and internationally.
Dr. Vasudevan completed his MD in Biochemistry from AIIMS, New Delhi, and conducted Post-Doctoral research at the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research, Lausanne, Switzerland. He received advanced training in Immunology at the WHO Immunology Laboratory, Switzerland. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences and the Royal College of Pathologists (UK).
After retiring from the Kerala Government Medical College service, he continued his passion for teaching and research. He is the Founder Director of the research division of Regional Cancer Centre, Trivandrum, the Amala Cancer Research Centre, Thrissur and the Jubilee Centre for Medical Research, Thrissur. He was the founder Principal of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences, Gangtok, and the Amrita School of Medicine, Kochi.
He is the Technical Director and Head of R&D at Agappe Diagnostics Ltd, Kochi. Their protein analyzer with unique channel-shifting technology has received four patents, and their RT-LAMP technique offers a cost-effective, rapid, and accurate method for COVID-19 detection. Dr. Vasudevan serves as the chief editor of Tech Agappe and is the Head of PG and Research at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. He has supervised over 30 Ph.D. students across various universities, authored 260 scientific publications and several books. His textbook on Biochemistry for medical students is widely used in India and abroad. He is a member, fellow, and referee of several national and international scientific bodies, committees, and journals of repute.
